“Above all, I believe that Literacy is a civil right and is the key to creating generational change.”

A Lifelong Educator with a Heart for Families

With over 25 years in education, I’ve worn many hats — classroom teacher, Director, School District Administrator, collegiate faculty, mentor, and coach. Each role has shaped my understanding of education from multiple perspectives, giving me a unique ability to connect with educators, families, and communities alike.

From Shy Student to Speaker and Author

Believe it or not, I was once a scared and shy child. Now, I speak for a living — a transformation I never imagined! Recently, I achieved another milestone as a published author and active blog writer, where I share insights, strategies, and stories from my experiences.

My Most Important Role — Mom

Out of all my titles, “Mom” is the one I cherish most. I’m proud to parent three amazing children and three equally wonderful stepchildren. Balancing family life with professional commitments has given me an even deeper understanding of the challenges families face — and the powerful role they play in education.

Inspired by Service and Social Justice

I believe that literacy is a civil right — and the key to generational change. My biggest inspiration is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose call for a “tough mind and tender heart” continues to guide my work and values.

I also hold close the words of poet and philosopher Rabindranath Tagore:

“I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.”

These beliefs shape my work as an advocate for all children and families — ensuring every individual feels seen, valued, and welcomed. With me, all are welcome.
